Millions of people are moving out of their homelands everyday for millions of reasons and start their lives somewhere else, either by force or with their own will. The first impression by hearing these might be that that mobility is increasing and the idea of globalization is expanding. However, immigration is not always looked at positively like this. Seeking a better life?!

Hearing the news of the asylum seekers in Australia who were recently sent back home and a group who drowned as a result of capsized boat, I thought I should write this thought which has been in my mind for long. As an Iranian, there are usually two images in your mind when you hear about refugee thing. One is the political refugees for whom life almost means death in Iran and the other group is the so called douchebags who have no skills and leave their home country to seek a better life without much effort. Many believe that the second group should not do so because they can have a better life in their own country through working if they stop being lazy. To them, these refugees who often lie and claim to be political activists when they seek asylum, are lazy people who want to live well without trying hard for it. My Regina Coeli Experience

In this post I am going to write about my language learning experience at Regina Coeli. Regina Coeli in Vught, the Netherlands is a language institution known for the nuns who used to run it in the past. There are no nuns nowadays but their method of teaching is still more or less used, I assume with some modifications. The courses in this institution are intensive; they are usually either 5 day or weekend courses. The lessons are individual and tailored to each learner's needs. Every learner has an individual program with two teachers who teach them different skills. The materials also vary according to the individual level and learning goals. I went there for a 5 day intensive Dutch course. I am motivated to learn Dutch for several reasons. I live in the Netherlands and I think learning the language helps me understand Dutch culture better. I work at a faculty where we have monthly meetings in Ducth and I would like to be able to follow the meetings and the emails I occasionall...
