Millions of people are moving out of their homelands everyday for millions of reasons and start their lives somewhere else, either by force or with their own will. The first impression by hearing these might be that that mobility is increasing and the idea of globalization is expanding. However, immigration is not always looked at positively like this. There are several whys I cannot find answers for! Or maybe I do, but the answers prove me how unfair the whole thing is!
I see several times that people do not question a Canadian who is working in Europe, or a European who is in the states why they have immigrated but a person from the middle east or Africa always has to have an answer for that. Why is experiencing and seeing the world the right of a European citizen but not a middle eastern's?
When talking about immigration and immigrants, why are often people from third world countries under study and not those from developed countries? I see that people from developed countries are many time not even called immigrants! I feel that the word "immigrant" has a negative connotation and thus only attributed to those from undeveloped countries and are desperate people who moved for money, when used by people.
I think the role of those immigrants from third world countries who move out to be a fruitful person and make a change is often ignored. There are people who are well off and can simply live a good life in their undeveloped country and enjoy the luxury there, having their travels abroad, but they prefer to emigrate because they do not find the chance for themselves to shine and to find the place they deserve. They are those who cannot close their eyes to the unfair life.
