Language or power?

Today I was thinking how English is becoming more and more powerful everyday. This phenomena is expanding so much that it is jeopardizing many other languages so that they no longer produce science in their own language. English is becoming the language of science, which means that if you have a word to say to the world, you have to shout it out in English or it won't be heard. I am wondering if it is fair, or the whole things is going to the wrong path.

This issue can be viewed from different aspects. Using English as a common language would be helpful for the world as they have a way to communicate and this common language helps them unite and if this trend continues, the world may end to have English as the official language of schooling, medicine, etc. (it is more or less the case even now). As a consequence, national and language identity will be challenged and in danger of going extinct. Imagine that you use your native language only to talk to your parents, etc. and even that is going to fade in the course of time after some generations. The question is: Do we want that to happen?

Native English speakers on the other hand, will be expanding and so will the culture. Language and culture are closely connected and they grow or dispersal almost together. Can using English as the official language of a country be a danger to those cultures as well? I am wondering if this trend is going to empower English speaking states and raise the dominance of their culture. Is is to be considered a danger? Is the whole thing going to be fair to non English speakers? Is it going to be any difference on the dominance of the culture of different English speaking states? My questions relate to year later!

Even what I have written may not be read in my own native language! You see the power?
